Detroit Auto Show: 2014 Kia Cadenza

Kia has unveiled the 2014 Kia Cadenza at the Detroit motor show. It was designed under the watch of Kia president and design chief Peter Schreyer. It features Kia's so-called "tiger-nose" front fascia, LED lights and chrome bezeling in the back.

Power comes from a 293-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 engine that features direct-injection technology for improved performance. The engine drives the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission that incorporates shift paddles on the steering wheel for driver-initiated gear changes.

Inside, there's a whole host of nice leather surrounded by wood and chrome accents, with a driver-focused cockpit (sort of like the Optima) with a seven-inch TFT color touchscreen display. Premium options include things like Nappa leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, Kia's UVO infotainment system, HID headlamps with active lighting, heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Sounds comfy.

Overseas premiere for upgraded Kia Cadenza at Detroit Show

  • Features new look, fresh features of Kia’s evolving design DNA
  • Introduces new premium equipment and advanced safety technologies

The significantly upgraded, new-look Kia Cadenza luxury sedan makes its overseas premiere today (Tuesday) at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, USA.

The upgraded Cadenza moves the Kia brand further up market by offering customers an impressive list of standard and optional equipment that takes in-car technology and premium features to an entirely new level.

“An increasing number of Kia customers around the world are looking for vehicles with even more premium amenities and advanced technology,” comments Hyoung-Keun Lee, Vice Chairman and CEO, Kia Motors Corporation. “When the new-look upgraded Cadenza goes on sale in different regions of the world during the first quarter of 2013, it will introduce a host of advanced comfort and safety systems that promise to set a new standard in the premium sedan segment.”

Sophisticated and elegant styling

Based closely on the 2009 model’s styling by Kia’s President and Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, the new-look Cadenza features fresh elements that incorporate Kia’s evolving design DNA. Echoing some of the visual innovations of the flagship Kia Quoris sedan, the upgraded Cadenza has a more distinctive appearance with a new hood, trunk lid, light clusters (front and rear) and new bumpers, plus side air-vents in the front wings and a new interpretation of the brand’s ‘tiger nose’ front grille.
