Irvine, Calif. (November 3, 2009) – In the age of ultimate personalization, Meguiar's®, the leader in surface care technology, announced today the introduction of Wraptivo™, a line of designer car wraps allowing consumers to create a one-off temporary skin that transforms the outer shell of their vehicles.

Wraptivo allows consumers to modify their cars in an interchangeable and fun way, without the commitment and cost of full body paint. Dull vehicles are transformed into bold personalized creations with Wraptivo's safe, thin adhesive-backed film in as little as 4-8 hours. A limitless palette of customization opportunities, including personal photos, licensed logos and patterns, exist through a state-of-the-art Customizer accessible online, For the first time, Wraptivo will provide the US automotive consumer with the ability to choose textured finishes, such as chrome, carbon and matte.

Wraptivo's Customizer provides individuals with the ability to have absolute creative control to configure and modify the outside shell of their car, ultimately producing a four-wheeled work of art from the privacy of their very own computer.

Meguiar's will preview this bold new technology during the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show by showcasing a Scion xB and a 2009 Mustang wrapped in different-themed Wraptivo skins each day. At the Wraptivo booth (24643), the company will also have an online customizer that will allow attendees to design, produce and share their own Wraptivo designer car wraps with friends.

Meguiar's Wraptivo is not for consumers who believe a vehicle is simply a mode of transportation, but rather for those who view their car as an extension of individual style. This product gives fans of racing, fashion, sports or pop culture a platform to showcase and show off their interests and personalities on any and all parts of their ride. "From the mild to the wild, anything is possible with Wraptivo," said automotive stylist and Wraptivo spokesperson, RJ de Vera.

De Vera adds, "Our goal at SEMA is to give our audience a sneak peek into something progressive, fresh, and exciting in the automotive world. Consumers now have the ultimate tool to let their minds create limitless customization. Who needs anything typical or run-of-the-mill when you can let your imagination run wild on your hood, truck or roof? With Wraptivo, you can be as understated or loud as you wish, separating yourself from your neighbors and everyone else at a red light."

Meguiar's will also hold a contest for the most creative wrap designed in the Wraptivo booth through its state-of-the-art Customizer during the SEMA Show. Two free wraps will be awarded; one for the most creative 2009 Mustang wrap design and the second for the most creative 2009 Scion xB wrap design. The online customizers will be showcased in the Wraptivo booth, #24643, at the Las Vegas Convention Center this November 3-6. Wraptivo customization will soon be available to car enthusiasts with a passion for personalization at www.Wraptivo.com.

Video; Full details for Next BMW M5 F10

The next BMW M5 will be the first to have a turbocharged engine. News of the car's development comes by way of Autocar, who interviewed M division development chief Albert Bierman. Bierman says development of the next-gen M5 is well under way.

BMW M5 F10 spy photo

The engine’s output remains secret. But with the same unit pumping out 555bhp in the X5 and X6 M, the new car should stick to the M5 tradition of being more powerful than the car it replaces.

The most noticeable difference will be the way the new engine delivers its power. The V10’s 500bhp comes at 7750rpm, but the V8’s peak power should arrive at not much more than 6000rpm.

Although fuel consumption, and emissions, are expected to be reduced, a hybrid version similar to that of the Active Hybrid 7 is not expected. This decision is due to the added weight (100kg) a hybrid system would cause, a contrast to the car's carbon-fiber roof and trunk. Look for a new, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to be on the vehicle, similar to that shown on the 25th anniversary M5. LED lighting, better aerodynamics, and a double-wishbone front suspension should also exist on the car.

The BMW has just introduced a new petrol-electric hybrid system on its new Active Hybrid 7, it has not been considered for the M5 due to the 100kg it adds to the car’s weight.

The new M5 will continue the car’s tradition of visual understatement with a muscular appearance. LED lighting will be used to enhance the look and differentiate the M5 from the standard 5-series, a new generation of which is due early next year.

JE DESIGN is spicing up the Seat Leon FR

JE Design Seat Leon FR 2009

JE DESIGN with Vogtland at the Essen Motor Show, Hall 10, Stand 402
  • Performance rises up to 270 hp with the TSFI and 204 hp with the TDI
  • Entire aerodynamics pack and four-pipe system
  • LED daytime running lights and wing doors
  • Interior refinement with two-colour leather equipment
At Seat, FR stands for Formula Racing. But that was not exciting enough for the JE DESIGN engineers. They turned the new Seat Leon FR into a real sports car which has significantly gained power and also shows it.

JE Design Seat Leon FR 2009

The Seat two-litre petrol engine produces 211 hp (155 kW) in the serial model. Due to an optimisation of the control unit, JE DESIGN increases the performance of the TFSI-engine by a good quarter to 270 hp (199 kW). The maximum torque leaps from 280 to 355 Newton metres. Instead of 7.1 seconds, the JE DESIGN-Leon reaches the 100 kph barrier in already 6.2 seconds. JE DESIGN offers the performance enhancement for 1499 Euros including VAT, assembly and a one-year warranty.
Also the Diesel engine becomes brawnier after JE DESIGN engineers put the finishing touches on their work. The additional electronics Can-Tronic boosts the two-litre TDI from 170 hp (125 kW) to 204 hp (150 kW) and the maximum torque from 350 to 380 Newton metres. Therefore the sprint from 0 to 100 kph is reduced from 8.2 to 7.6 seconds. The price is 1339 Euros and also includes VAT, assembly and warranty.

JE Design Seat Leon FR 2009

The Leon FR by JE DESIGN proudly presents this newly acquired power with bold headlight blends (89 Euros), LED daytime running lights (299 Euros) and its aerodynamics pack. The front spoiler with the double lip (279 Euros) draws the vehicle to the road. The side skirts (299 Euros) calm down the air flow which derives from the new rear skirt attachment (299 Euros) and the centre diffuser attachment (99 Euros) at the rear. There, the end muffler with its mighty four-pipe system (899 Euros) unmistakably confirms that this is no serial Seat.
By lowering the vehicle, the car receives a sportier look and a better handling at the same time. Owing to the lowering springs (159 Euros), the Seat is 35 millimetres closer to the road. With the coilover suspension (979 Euros), an individual lowering from 15 to 40 millimetres can be achieved. Therefore, the new 19-inch wheels look especially impressive. The elegant and dynamic design of the Multispoke wheels glows in black and has a polished rim bead. Sport wheels measuring 225/35R 19 ensure a safe contact to the road (entire wheel set for 2930 Euros).

JE Design Seat Leon FR 2009

The most significant difference between the JE DESIGN Leon and its serial counterpart shows as soon as the driver opens the doors. The wing door hinges (1499 Euros) first open the doors outwards before they safely glide upwards.
And as if the refinement of the engine and the exterior were not impressive enough, JE DESIGN additionally enhances the interior. Seats, door linings and the centre armrest are all wrapped in noble leather (1599 Euros). Thereby, the colour combination between leather and stitches can be chosen without any additional charges. A two-stage seat heating (379 Euros) is offered as well as an adjustable lordosis support (319 Euros). But the highlight of the interior refinement is not visible: the driver and the passengers can indulge in the luxury of the massage system in the seats which offers twelve programmes (429 Euros). Moreover, the refiner offers to embroider a logo into the back rests (79 Euros) according to the wishes of the customer.

JE Design Seat Leon FR 2009

Moreover, the refining experts from Leingarten also offer noble leather for the steering wheel (399 Euros), the gear shift skirt and the hand brake cuff (together for 179 Euros).
With the Leon FR, JE DESIGN once again confirms its competence in refining Seat automobiles. With the performance enhancement, the entire aerodynamics pack and a keen eye for details, the engineers developed a dynamic and overall harmonious automobile.

IT'S BEEN WINNING RALLIES AND RACES IN AUSTRALIA FOR 6 YEARS

0 评论

IT'S BEEN WINNING RALLIES AND RACES IN AUSTRALIA FOR 6 YEARS. NOW IT'S AVAILABLE IN THE UK - WELCOME TO THE SKELTA

Whether you want to compete in sprints and hillclimbs, clean up in GT racing, participate in track days, or simply motor through the summer sun to your local pub, the Skelta could be just the car for you.
Most road-going competition cars require a myriad of costly upgrades to make them fully competitive. The super-light, ultra-tough Skeltas on the other hand leave the factory with all the power, handling and braking they require to win out of the box.

Supreme lightness
The chrome molybdenum steel spaceframe is reinforced with a centre tunnel and sidepods made of carbonfibre/aluminium sandwich, while the body is crafted entirely from carbonfibre composite. This extensive use of strong but lightweight materials results in a dry weight of a mere 720kg.

Ample power
Power comes from either a supercharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Honda unit of 340bhp or the 3.0-litre V8 Hartley engine of 460bhp - both engines drive through a Honda six-speed transmission. The suspension comprises rose-jointed double wishbones front and rear, linked to inboard MCA Proflex spring and damper units - the set-up is fully adjustable for track, camber, caster and toe. Powerful braking emanates from ventilated discs and four-pot callipers front and rear.

Cutting-edge aerodynamics
The heavily finned front air intakes, sizeable rear wing and diffuser are a clue to the aerodynamic package, which exerts 200kg of downforce at 90mph. Coupled to a 50/50 weight distribution this results in phenomenal cornering power - small wonder then that the car is so competitive, whatever its environment. The Skelta is available in two styles:

  • Spyder - a wide-bodied, open-topped two-seater
  • G-Force - a two-seater with detachable gull-wing targa top

One man's dream
The Skelta was born out of one man's obsession to win the incomparable 2000km Targa Tasmania road rally. A former Australian rally champion, Ray Vandersee began his determined assault on the Targa with a re-engineered Westfield. His ingenious modifications brought it closer to the Porsches, Nissan GTRs etc that were dominating such events, but it was clear that something fresh was needed to ensure him of outright victory. Starting with a clean sheet of paper, and incorporating all the attributes his extensive competition career told him were required, he designed his own creation from scratch - the Skelta.
Thanks to Skelta, Vandersee and his customers have now won countless events throughout Australia and New Zealand and Vandersee himself has come agonisingly close to realising his dream of wining Targa Tasmania outright. With a string of class wins and quickest stage times to his credit, plus the fastest Skelta yet under constant development, 2010 can't come soon enough for him. Skelta Racecars Europe has been formed to give UK and European drivers the chance of similar success and enjoyment.

Skelta facts
  • The origin of the name? The Beatles hit Helter Skelter was blasting from the radio the night the project was conceived
  • Skeltas are made in Toowoomba, Queensland, next door to the well established Vandersee family business of importing John Deere farm machinery and Hino trucks for distribution throughout Australia
On show at Autosport International in January
Examples of both the Spyder and G-Force will be exhibited at the Autosport International Show at the NEC, January 14-17. In the meantime, further details of the cars are available at www.skeltaracecars.com.

2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder Making World Debut in Los Angeles

1 评论

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is introducing a new top version of the Porsche Boxster, a light mid-engined roadster making its world debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in December.
Weighing just 1,275 kg or 2,811 lb, the Boxster Spyder is the lightest model throughout the entire range of Porsche cars. Clearly recognisable right from the start, this new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the Porsche sports car – light, powerful, consistently open, and very efficient.
This is precisely the formula already applied in creating Porsche’s most successful road-going sports and racing cars, ranging from the legendary 550 Spyder all the way to the RS Spyder so successful in motorsport today.

The Boxster Spyder now continues this clear-cut philosophy with full homologation for the road, thus reflecting a common wish expressed by Porsche customers. The new model is entering the market in February 2010 as the third version in the Boxster range, joining the Boxster and Boxster S.
The new member of the Boxster family stands out clearly at very first sight from the other versions of Porsche’s mid-engined roadster. Quite simply because the Boxster Spyder has been developed first and foremost for driving in the open air, the low-slung, light soft top extending far to the rear serving exclusively to protect the driver and passenger from bright sunshine, wind and weather. When closed, the soft top, together with the extra-low side windows and the two striking bulges on the single-piece rear lid, boasts a stretched and sleek silhouette reminiscent of the Carrera GT.

Significantly less weight than the Boxster S, a lower centre of gravity and an all-new sports suspension give the Boxster Spyder the right kind of driving dynamics clearly reflecting the unique look of the car.
The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4-litre six-cylinder with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. Maximum output is 320 bhp, 10 bhp more than in the Boxster S.
Equipped with PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe and the Sports Chrono Package, the new Spyder, using Launch Control, accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Again with optional PDK, fuel consumption is a mere 9.3 litres on 100 kilometres (equal to 30.4 mpg imp) in the NEDC New European Driving Cycle. Top speed, in turn, is 267 km/h or 166 mph – with the roof open.

In terms of its fundamental concept, the entire Boxster family is the successor to the legendary 550 Spyder built back in 1953, both models sharing the same mid-engine roadster concept, low weight, back-to-the-roots lifestyle, and supreme agility combined with equally outstanding driving pleasure.
The 550 Spyder was the first sports car from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen developed specifically for racing but also homologated for the road. In the years following its production, this unique Spyder weighing only 550 kg or 1,213 lb, scored numerous victories on race circuits and in the road races so popular at the time.

The 550 Spyder was followed by other extremely successful Porsche Spyders such as the 718 RS 60 in 1960.
In 2004 and 2008 Porsche dedicated a limited edition of special Boxsters bearing the additional name Spyder to these legendary racing cars. By contrast, the new Boxster Spyder is a regular, specially developed and upgraded production model with far-reaching modifications versus the Boxster and Boxster S.
Market introduction of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder will start worldwide in February 2010. The base price in the Euro countries is 53,100 Euro. Including 19 per cent VAT and national specifications, the market price of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder is 63,404 Euro.

SEMA Show: 1962 Corvette C1-RS is a worthy Goodguys Street Machine of the Year

0 评论

Columbus, OH - In the world of custom automobiles a car comes along every five to ten years that represents a sea change, raising the bar to seemingly unreachable new heights. It happened again in Columbus, Ohio at the Goodguys 12th PPG Nationals when Phil and Jeremy Gerber and the Roadster Shop team debuted their "C1RS" '62 Corvette for customer Barry Blomquist. From the moment the car was uncovered gasps and gawks came over the masses. The performance automotive scene hasn't seen a car quite like this. Both Blomquist and the Gerber's beamed proudly as the car was unanimously named 2009 Goodguys/Air Ride Technologies "Street Machine of the Year."

Designed by the Roadster shop and artist Eric Brockmeyer, Blomquists's "C1RS" Corvette is a striking blend of hand formed aluminum and carbon fiber built in step with today's F-1 race cars. It also served as the launch platform for The Roadster Shop's new C1 line of Corvette chassis. Mated with Detroit Speed & Engineering suspension components, Brembo 14 ½" 6-piston brakes and one off custom spindle mount Forgeline wheels, the car's ground hugging underpinnings served it well in the mandatory Autocross competition at the Goodguys PPG Nationals (Street Machine of the Year award criteria calls for all participants to log at least 3 laps on the Autocross course). With Phil Gerber doing the driving the 'Vette posted the fastest lap of the event in 32.222 effortless seconds. Onlookers claimed it looked like the car was merely out for a Sunday drive while blowing the doors off the other 31 Street Machine of the Year competitors.

Under the hand-formed hood lies the heart of the beast – a 618 horsepower LS7 by Turnkey Engines producing 640ft lbs of torque. Custom stainless 2-inch primary headers emit a throaty roar and the Bowler T-56 transmission gets it flying in a hurry.

Aesthetically, the cars low, smooth lines give it spectacular curb appeal. Everything on the 'Vette has been changed, massaged, smoothed and redesigned by The Roadster Shop staying true to Brockmeyer's original design. The entire front end is custom formed from sixty-thousandths sheet aluminum including all grills, grille surrounds, front bumper and grille bar. One off headlights with billet trim rings, carbon fiber side louvers, a recessed cove and a completely restyled rear end would make even Zora Arkus Duntov envious.

Being a roadster, the car's interior plays a dominant roll in its overall look and feel. The custom formed seats are adorned in Italian red leather with Alcantara suede accents. The aluminum dash is hand-sculpted to perfection housing Classic Instruments carbon fiber gauges. The waterfall center console was also made by hand and the F-1 inspired foot pedals would make former Ferrari team driver Michael Schumacher feel right at home.

The C1RS Corvette not only won the world's biggest award for a performance Street Machine, it allowed The Roadster Shop team to realize their full potential. "We've had this car in our minds for a long time," Jeremy Gerber smiled. "Our guys at the shop worked tirelessly over an entire year getting this car to Columbus. Barry Blonquist gave us the resources and opportunity to build our vision. We're thankful to win this award for Barry and the Roadster Shop."

The top five finalists for this year's Goodguys/Air Ride Technologies Street Machine of the Year included Nathan Powell, Birmingham, AL 1969 Camaro, Devan Glissmeyer, Salt Lake City, UT 1968 Mustang, Barry Blomquist, Onalaska, WI 1962 Corvette, Bryan Frank, Scotts Bluff, NE 1969 Pontiac Trans Am and Tom Boldry, Kansas City, MO 1969 Dodge Charger.

SEMA Show: HPP Daytona is one big Hot Wheels toy

1 评论

Yes, it's a new Dodge Challenger wearing a Charger Daytona costume, but updated for today's muscle car aficionados. Under the hood sits a standard 5.7-liter HEMI V8, further proving the point that when it comes to the Daytona/Superbird, it's what's on the outside that counts! Luckily for us, HPP did a pretty decent job on the outside.

While we're positive that it's the same dimensions as the mondo-sized Daytona/Superbird wing, the new Challenger's trunk is about half the length of the Sixties/Seventies cars. Meaning it looks... not quite right. Also, this Mopar muscle car has grown so much since forty years ago that the car is just screaming for more wing. But we'll still happily take one, as the HPP Daytona was/is totally worth the hunt.

The nose cone works, and works well. Here comes the hate mail, but this author thinks the nose actually looks better than the original 1969 Charger Daytona's does. Here's a pic for reference. To be fair, the HPP's schnoz is actually much more like a Plymouth Superbird's than the Dodge. The wheels are great, the fake vents on the door are bad, the stance is right... and then we get to the rear wing.

TWO WORLD PREMIERES FOR AUTODELTA AT MPH09 MOTOR SHOW

Autodelta Brera S 3.2 Compressore and J4 3.2 C

London, England - Autodelta will present two exciting new additions to its range of exclusive bespoke sportscars this week, on the occasion of the MPH09 Prestige & Performance Car Show at Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London (November 5-8). Autodelta is the leading global aftermarket Alfa Romeo design and tuning house, and this annual automotive extravaganza - hosted by BBC TV's Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - has come to be regarded as our ‘home' motor show, taking place as it does just a stone's throw from our Park Royal headquarters. The MPH Motor Show attracts only the very cream of latest high-performance and luxury automotive brand names, and is thus the perfect focused environment in which to showcase our ultimate-specification Alfa Romeo products.

We will unveil two products that break new ground for their dynamic capabilities. Firstly, the Autodelta J4 3.2 C, which completes our ambitious and fruitful project of redefining the stylish Alfa Romeo 159 sedan into the ultimate modern-day interpretation of the classic Italian notion of ‘gran turismo'. Alongside it, the out-and-out sports-minded Alfa Brera S ‘Compressore', which fulfils this limited edition model's sporting makeover by providing the optimum solution for the key area which remained unaddressed when the muscular coupé was recently tweaked by Prodrive: namely, a significant boost to its power output.

Autodelta J4 3.2 C based on Alfa Romeo 159

Autodelta J4 3.2 C

One year on from the commercialisation of the Autodelta J4 2.2 C, we raise the Alfa Romeo tuning bar once more with the arrival of a bespoke package for the 3.2-litre V6 version, which completes the petrol engine range upgrades for the Alfa 159 and in the process create a car pushing at the performance boundaries, in true Autodelta fashion.

When our engineers set about developing Alfa Romeo's acclaimed flagship sedan right across the board, firstly with the 2.2-litre direct injection supercharging project, we were driven, as ever, by the exacting requirements of our customers. And for this project, the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed car's inherent beauty and elegance led us toward the goal of creating the ultimate ‘grand tourer' in true historic Alfa Romeo fashion, fusing the glamour, grace and dashing style of the golden era of Italian motoring with all the power, agility and driveability expected of an Autodelta brand product - all tightly wrapped in a package that cosseted the driver in luxury and comfort.

In almost a century's history, Alfa Romeo has defined grand tourer motoring time and time again; rising to face that challenge, adding value to that tradition, and creating a product that is worthy of the famous badge was a task we accepted with unrivalled enthusiasm, but at the same time, complete respect.

The groundbreaking result was the Autodelta J4 2.2 C, flamboyant in spirit and utterly in-tune with the driver, bursting with cutting-edge technology, but at the same time, always practical and user-friendly; and the resulting demand over the last year proves that we have been able to tap into a rich vein of Alfisti desire. Now we have taken those core ideas and melded them into the ultimate expression of modern-era Alfa Romeo motoring: the V6 engine, making this stylish four-door sedan available with the 352 bhp / 435 Nm supercharged 3.2-litre engine package that has made the Autodelta J5 3.2 C into a globally-respected sportscar.

The new Autodelta J4 3.2 C is the result of a complete reworking of the Alfa 159 into an optimised, leading-edge bespoke package, with our highly-experienced engineers pushing the performance and dynamic envelope of the car outwards in all key areas to create a truly driver-orientated package. Importantly, however, such dynamic prowess does not detract from the inbred luxury; rather, it is enriched to deliver the ultimate high-performance touring experience. Alongside the new supercharging system with intercooler, the J4 3.2 C features upgrades to the chassis, electronics, brakes, and suspension, with the adjustable coilovers evolving from the sporty-but-smooth J4 2.2 C, now recalibrated through our on-going R&D programme to take into account the new weight of the V6 engine, its distribution and dynamic properties, and ensuring that ride quality is enhanced despite the significant power increase and new chassis characteristics.

Autodelta J4 3.2 C based on Alfa Romeo 159

Autodelta Brera S 3.2 ‘Compressore'

A recent project between Alfa Romeo UK and long-established motorsport preparation firm Prodrive saw the Brera coupe realised into the limited-edition Brera S 3.2, with the most productive aspect of the project being a weight loss of 100 kg thanks to the use of front-wheel drive rather than the standard Brera V6's Q4 all-wheel drive system. With cosmetic and trim upgrades in addition to suspension changes, the Brera S has become a distinctive new version of this striking car. However, Prodrive didn't tackle the area of the car's performance, and this has led to a flurry of requests from buyers for us to take the "bull by the horns" and complete the overall package.

Reworking the Brera S 3.2 with our supercharging system, the finely-honed result of almost a quarter-century of developing and applying forced induction principles to Alfa Romeos, completely transforms it and turns the Brera S into a high-performance sportscar perfectly in sync with the driver. The Brera S 3.2 ‘Compressore' remains true to our principles - as well as living up to the values of the historic Autodelta brand name - remains a sportscar that is always ready for everyday use in any scenario.

We have great experience taming high-powered front-wheel drive Alfa Romeo models, such as the 425 bhp Alfa 147 GTA which we produce (and which has had excellent reviews), so we knew exactly what would be the parameters and objectives of the Brera S 3.2 project. The resulting car uses our tried-and-tested supercharging package with intercooler, drawn from the successful Autodelta J5 3.2 C with a maximum power output of 352 bhp (compared to the Brera S, which retains the standard model's 260 bhp) and a significant hike in peak torque to 435 Nm (compared to 322 Nm for the standard Brera S model). The front-wheel drive nature of the Brera S means that with our performance upgrade, in-gear acceleration is greatly improved, as the Brera S no longer has the power drain of the four-wheel drive system. Traction is further improved by fitting our bespoke mechanical limited slip differential (LSD), which operates in combination with the car's standard electronic Q2 system. The mechanical LSD works in a more natural way (as the Q2 only operates in more extreme driving scenarios by applying the brakes to transfer power to the required corner), and offers the driver much greater feedback, which helps to optimise the ‘fun' experience that is a prerequisite of any Autodelta-refined sportscar. Drivers will appreciate the way our LSD integrates into the Brera to enhance the all-round experience.

The result has been transformational, turning the Brera S into an ultimate product in the finest of Autodelta traditions, a sportscar with dynamic capabilities to match its award-winning looks. While this version remains outside of our comprehensive range, in order to cater for the demand of owners, we have made this upgrade available from our factory and we will present the Brera S 3.2 ‘Compressore' at the MPH09 Motor Show.

To complete the all-round dynamic package of the Brera S, at the request of a number of customers, we have fitted the renowned Autodelta Sportline suspension kit which was developed for the Brera chassis through our exhaustive R&D programme, and has been now optimised for this latest application. The Prodrive suspension promotes excellent performance on smoother surfaces, such as racetracks, but it misses out on providing comfort for everyday use; the Autodelta Sportline suspension kit resolves this issue to offer the owner the best of both worlds. The height-adjustable Autodelta Sportline coilover suspension features specific new spring rates and 40 different firmness adjustment settings that can be quickly and conveniently adjusted by the driver. This means the ride height of the Brera S can now be altered for greater road convenience or to optimise the car in very different driving scenarios, from the requirements of a long-distance family tour, to the daily commute, or the more extreme demands of a trackday.

Autodelta Alfa Romeo Brera S 3.2 Compressore

Autodelta Spider Superflow

Alongside these two new models at MPH09 this week we will showcase the Autodelta Spider Superflow, a recent custom-built project that perfectly demonstrates our ability to create unique, hand-crafted creations developed to a customer's specific tastes and requirements. Each car is built at our factory to the owner's specifications, from the ultimate enhancements to its dynamic and performance capabilities, through aerodynamic exteriors with enhanced styling, to luxurious interior finishes. The Autodelta experience involves realising the customer's deepest dream - and then exceeding it. The Alfa Spider Superflow was born out of one customer's love and appreciation for the last-generation Spider model, leading him to seek a special, individualised version, complete with maximum performance capability and truly unique styling. The car of his dreams would combine the thrills of wind-in-the-hair motoring with flair and style. The brief was to enhance the car's performance in every area, and to create new styling, unique from anything else we had done before, subtle yet distinct - yet still obviously embedded with a clear sense of Alfa Romeo history and Autodelta DNA. The result was the Spider Superflow, a car that pays homage to one of the most significant one-off concept cars associated with Alfa Romeo's rich history.

Autodelta and the MPH Motor Show

MPH Motor Show has a strong legacy for Autodelta, especially so with the Earls Court Exhibition Centre being located just a few miles from our headquarters. We presented our first exclusive, fully-bespoke model, a car transformed in every area - the Autodelta 147 GTA AM 3.7 - during the first edition of the show, MPH03, held at Earls Court six years ago, in November 2003. The following year, Autodelta presented two models that went on to achieve great significance for their world premières at MPH04, the Autodelta 156 GTA AM 3.7 and the Autodelta GT Super, while at the subsequent edition, MPH05, the assembled crowds saw the debut of the Autodelta GT Super Evo, featuring a distinct performance step over the previous model as well as ‘Model Year' upgrades.

Three years ago, for the fourth edition of the show, the Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 C made its public debut at MPH06, seen for the first time in final production format after an exclusive world preview in Monte Carlo that summer. Indeed, for the launch of the J5, Autodelta attended both MPH shows - firstly at its usual home at Earls Court in London, and then at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Two years ago, it was the turn of the Autodelta Spider J6 3.2 C to be unveiled for its world première at MPH07, with the convertible sportscar again displayed in both London and Birmingham. Last year, following a special media unveiling in Holland, we presented the Autodelta J4 2.2 C for its public debut at MPH08, and one year on, its V6-engined sister is set to receive its world première at Earls Court, alongside a first public showing of the supercharged Brera S 3.2 ‘Compressore'.

The Off-Road Racer designed for car enthusiasts, by car enthusiasts is debuted at the biggest industry event of the year at SEMA, in the 'Making Green Cool Zone'

It's one of the most exciting cars to hit the road in ages. Aggressive, sleek and inspired by old War Birds, the Local Motors Rally Fighter has the heritage of legacy with fresh appeal.

The story of this vehicle is in its revolutionary yet simple development process - it was designed and developed by a community of car enthusiasts. New American car company Local Motors invites anyone with a passion for cars to collaborate in an open design process to help choose and shape the look of each Local Motors vehicle. Now home to over 4,000 car designers, engineers and enthusiasts, the Local Motors community is the largest of its kind - and the only to bring a new car to market.

The Rally Fighter is a premium, authentic off-of-road experience, custom designed and built for the deserts of the American Southwest. It was designed by community member Sangho Kim while many Local Motors' members participated in the open development process. Together with the company they helped collaborate on body design details, side vent creation, interior and even accessory design.

Undiluted design, power and efficiency is the result. The Rally Fighter is powered by a BMW 3.0 liter twin-turbo clean diesel sporting 265 ponies and a striking 425 pound-feet of torque at only 1750rpm that are directed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Rally Fighter is lightweight at only 3,200 pounds which allows for exceptional performance and efficiency.

Build process and end product are so efficient the car is debuting in SEMA sponsored 'Making Green Cool Zone'. At 30-36mpg, the Rally Fighter is competing for most efficient in its desert off-road class. In addition, Local Motors utilizes a sustainable build methodology and builds cars 'Just-In-Time'. This process creates little or no waste, and allows customers to actually participate in the build process of their own Rally Fighter. Local Motors builds cars with customers in regional Micro-Factories which double as service stations. The first Micro-Factory is in Wareham, Massachusetts, and the second will be built in Phoenix, Arizona in 2010. Local Motors plans for 50 Micro-Factories around the country.

This enthusiast experience continues as Local Motors allows customers to host 'Custom Car Skins' Competitions on local-motors.com. Local Motors designers compete to create custom graphics to for Rally Fighter owners based on desired specifications- every outcome is unique. The graphics are applied with vinyl, not paint, which is lightweight, customizable, and recyclable.

Local Motors is introducing a heart-pounding new vehicle for enthusiasts, and with it, a new automotive experience. Participate in the car design process; build the car you want; choose a custom car skin. It's all part of the new, sustainable Local Motors experience.

Rally Fighters are now available for reservation: http://www.local-motors.com/rf

Scion has given three of the most innovative and creative visionaries the opportunity to showcase their talents through three project vehicles shown at the SEMA Auto Show. The xB Tuner Challenge was participated in by Peter Colello of Mummbles Marketing, Bowls LA, and Eneri Abillar, who is working with Leigh Guarnieri from BRS Autodesign.

Peter Colello established a name for himself back in 2002 with his Toyota Celica GT of the same year and a 2001 Ford Focus ZTS. With this years xB Tuner Challenge car Colello sought to produce a "well-rounded show car with pure functionality, building and expanding from past projects." The project includes elements such as a wide-body kit, lots of carbon-fiber in the hood, hatch, wing and custom roof, and a color motif of teal to tie the exterior together. Other elements include a turbo kit, air-ride suspension, TRD exhaust, and an over-the-top in-car entertainment system, one of Colello's signatures.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Descendant turbocharger system
  • Shaved engine bay, doors and interior

Video: Bowls LA Scion xB Project Truck by SEMA

2 评论

The Bowls project truck is part of this year’s ‘Scion xB Tuner Challenge’ that pits three designers, including Leung, against each other to build the best customized xB for SEMA. Each was given a car to modify, with $10,000 cash awarded for the best vehicle.

The Bowls ScionB is inspired by the 1970 Toyota Crown pickup - a kind of Japanese El Camino - which wasn't released in the US. It features TRD parts like the clutch, a limited-slip differential, a rear stabiliser bar and brakes. For added safety a roll cage is installed. Expect a cool ICE kit courtesy of Pioneer.

Bowls LA partnered with Advanced Design Fabrication to convert the xB from humble city people mover into a pickup. First, they lengthened its wheelbase to accommodate a matching bike that will sit in its cargo box.

There’s a reason for the go fast kit inside the cabin. The xB’s engine has been tweaked with an AEM cold air intake, performance parts from Brian Crower and a Nitrous Oxide injection system. The five-speed manual transmission has been strengthened with a Toyota Racing Development heavy-duty clutch and to help lay all that power to the road, there's a TRD limited-slip diff. TRD has also donated a front strut tower brace and rear sway bar that work with a digital air ride kit from Air Lift.

Bowls also created a custom bike which will fit snugly on the truck bed. Overall a 1970s Southern California feel has been achieved.
